I. Description: 

The Board of Directors for the Diamond Diva Empowerment Foundation, a non-profit domestic violence agency, plays a pivotal role in guiding the organization's mission to empower and support survivors of domestic violence. Comprised of dedicated and passionate individuals, the Board oversees the strategic planning, financial stewardship, and overall governance of the foundation. Members are expected to leverage their expertise, experience, and networks to advance the foundation's goals, ensuring that comprehensive and effective services are provided to those in need. The Board works collaboratively with the executive team to shape policies, secure funding, and advocate for systemic change, creating a safer and more supportive environment for survivors.

This uncompensated appointment requires a significant dedication of time and resources, including attending regular board meetings, participating in committee work, and supporting fundraising efforts. By contributing their unique skills and perspectives, board members help the Diamond Diva Empowerment Foundation achieve its vision of a world where everyone can live free from the threat of domestic violence. The collective efforts of the Board ensure that the foundation remains resilient, adaptive, and impactful in its mission to empower survivors and foster lasting change.

II. Composition, Qualifications & Terms: 

The Board of Directors for the Diamond Diva Empowerment Foundation is composed of a diverse group of individuals who bring a wide range of skills, experiences, and perspectives to the organization. The Board aims to include professionals from various fields such as social services, law, finance, healthcare, education, and business. This diversity ensures that the Foundation benefits from a holistic approach to its strategic planning and decision-making processes. The Board works collaboratively with the executive team and staff to ensure the effective implementation of the Foundation’s mission and goals.

Candidates for the Board of Directors should demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of the Diamond Diva Empowerment Foundation and a passion for supporting survivors of domestic violence. Ideal candidates will possess:

  • A background in non-profit governance, social work, legal advocacy, finance, public relations, or related fields.

  • Experience in strategic planning, fundraising, and community outreach.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • The ability to dedicate time and resources to Board activities, including attending regular meetings and participating in committee work.

  • A network of contacts that can be leveraged to further the Foundation’s goals.

  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

 

III. Terms:

Board members serve a term of two years, with the opportunity for reappointment based on performance and continued interest in serving. This role is uncompensated, reflecting the dedication and altruism of the individuals involved. Board members are expected to actively participate in all Board meetings, contribute to committee activities, support fundraising efforts, and advocate for the Foundation within their personal and professional networks. The commitment of time and expertise from each Board member is crucial to the success and sustainability of the Diamond Diva Empowerment Foundation and its mission to empower survivors of domestic violence.

IV. Vacant Positions: 

Chairperson (Vacant)

  • Responsibilities: Preside over all Board meetings and ensure that meetings are conducted in an orderly and efficient manner. Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Board, represent the Foundation at external events, and oversee the implementation of Board decisions and policies. Act as the primary liaison between the Board and the Executive Director.

  • Qualifications: Proven leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep commitment to the Foundation’s mission. Prior experience on a nonprofit board is preferred.

Vice Chairperson (Vacant)

  • Responsibilities: Support the Chairperson in their duties and act as Chairperson in their absence. Assist in overseeing the implementation of strategic plans and Board decisions. Take on special projects as assigned by the Chairperson.

  • Qualifications: Strong organizational and leadership skills, with a commitment to the Foundation’s mission. Prior experience in a leadership role is beneficial.

Secretary (Vacant)

  • Responsibilities: Maintain accurate records of all Board meetings, including minutes and official documents. Ensure proper communication of meeting agendas and materials. Oversee the Board’s documentation and compliance with legal requirements.

  • Qualifications: Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills, attention to detail, and strong written communication abilities.

Treasurer (Vacant)

  • Responsibilities: Oversee the Foundation’s financial affairs, including budgeting, financial planning, and reporting. Review financial statements and ensure proper financial controls and compliance. Work closely with the Executive Director and financial staff to ensure transparency and accountability.

  • Qualifications: Background in finance or accounting, with strong analytical skills and a commitment to financial integrity.

Director of Fundraising and Events (Vacant)

  • Responsibilities: Develop and oversee the Foundation’s fundraising strategy, including planning events and cultivating donor relationships. Work closely with the Board to set fundraising goals and ensure that targets are met. Collaborate with the Executive Director to secure grants and sponsorships.

  • Qualifications: Experience in fundraising or development, with strong networking and communication skills.

Executive Director (Vacant)

  • Responsibilities: Manage the Foundation’s financial affairs, including budgeting, financial planning, and reporting. Review financial statements and ensure proper financial controls and compliance. Work closely with the Executive Team and financial staff to ensure transparency and accountability. Provide additional support and expertise as needed across various areas of the Foundation. Represent diverse perspectives and contribute to the overall governance of the Board. May take on specific projects or tasks as assigned by the Chairperson.

  • Qualifications: A broad range of skills and experience that can contribute to the Foundation’s mission, with flexibility and a willingness to take on diverse responsibilities.
